The Centre's projects relevant to conservation focused on the following issues:

Ecology of grain-eating (granivorous) birds, which appear to be particularly vulnerable to some of the changes occuring in the tropical savannas;

Distribution of vertebrates such as mammals, reptiles and birds across the tropical savannas;

Use of invertebrates such as ants and spiders in tracking environmental change;

Impacts of tree-clearing on biodiversity.
