A new booklet
Termites of Northern Australia
has been put together by CSIRO SE and the Tropical Savannas CRC
and is being published and distributed by Barker Souvenirs. It was
written by Alan Andersen, Peter Jacklyn, Tracy Dawes-Gromadzki and
Ian Morris.
Launched by His Honour Mr Ted Egan AO, Administrator of the
Northern Territory, in Darwin last week, the booklet is aimed at
the many thousands of people - tourists, students, amateur
naturalists and researchers, who visit the north and are fascinated
by termites. It covers termite societies and their role in
ecosystems, and outlines the species of termites most likely to be
encountered and recognised. The book highlights the work of the
TS–CRC-supported Soil Biota project led by Tracy
Dawes-Gromadzky of CSIRO SE.
The book is an expanded version of an earlier booklet
Termites of the Top End
and much of the work in producing the new booklet was carried out
by Barbie McKaige of CSIRO SE.
Termites of Northern Australia is available from tourist outlets
and from TS–CRC and CSIRO for $10 each.
