It has been suggested that the bid for the Northern Ventures CRC
should aim for a Round 12 submission, rather than the current round
which has a deadline of March 20, 2009. The CRC Secretariat has
advised that Round 12 is expected to open in July this year with a
closing date several months later.
Prof Bob Wasson, Deputy Vice Chancellor Research Charles Darwin
University, is currently leading the bid for the Northern Ventures
Cooperative Research Centre.
He has advised that despite the best efforts of a core group of
individuals, the bid may not be sufficiently advanced to allow a
good-quality application within the current round's timeframe. More
work needs to be done to refine the proposal, and to define and
flesh out the four themes and the projects proposed under each.
The bid currently stands at a proposal outline and draft
outlines for three of the four themes (see the Northern Ventures
Website to read these outlines www.northerncrc.org.au
Much work has been done to get to this point and there has been
interest in and enthusiasm for the proposal expressed by a range of
potential stakeholders and partners across northern Australia.
The bid was being developed following consultation with
potential stakeholders and interested parties through the latter
part of 2008 following the failure of the Tropical Savanna
Management rebid in 2007.
