Possible extension of life for CRC
The federal government has committed to restoring public benefit
as one of the primary objectives of the CRC program, and in the
light of that commitment has encouraged the Tropical Savannas CRC
to apply in the next CRC selection round.
Since the CRC Program is under review at present it is not clear
when the next selection round will be completed, but some delay in
the selection process is inevitable.
Given that funding for the TS-CRC currently terminates on 30
June 2008 the CRC has been asked to detail what support it would
require to keep the collaboration intact over the next 12–18
months.
This proposal has been greeted favourably by the Board of the
TS-CRC and a short business case is currently being prepared to
support the case for bridging finance. This is an exciting
development and we hope to be able to report further progress in
the next edition of Topical Savannas.
