Tropical Savannas CRC > Networking > Savanna Futures Forum '08

Savanna Futures Forum, February 28, 2008

This was the Tropical Savannas CRC's final forum, to which all members — past and present — and friends of the Tropical Savannas CRC were invited. More than 160 people from across Australia attended the event.

This forum reviewed the lessons learned over the last 13 years from both rounds of the Centre and also assessed how this knowledge could be applied in the years ahead. What is the future for Australia's tropical savannas?

The day was organised into four sessions reflecting the research Themes of the Tropical Savannas CRC. Each session featured four talks and slideshows covering a different aspect of that theme. A panel discussion followed each session.

The pages on the menu at left include a brief description, links to the summaries and slideshows, and contact details of the speakers.

Future Options Launched

The book Future Options for North Australia, by Stephen Garnett, John Woinarski, Rolf Gerritson and Gordon Duff was launched at the forum. Applying scenario-building being undertaken at a global or national level to our own region, Future Options offers perspectives on the direction northern Australia might take over the next 20 to 50 years.
